Third Call to Action for FDA Proposed Regulations - Demand Congressional Hearings Investigating FDA and CDC's Actions

On Thursday, May 8th, CASAA released the Overview of its Action Plan Regarding Proposed FDA Regulations.

  • On May 11, 2014, CASAA released the first of several Calls to Action anticipated in CASAA's Action Plan.
  • On May 21st, CASAA released the second Call to Action.
  • The First Call to Action is still active, so if you haven't yet participated, please do so now.  The Second Call to Action has now concluded.

This is the Third Call to Action in CASAA's Action Plan.

This Third Call to Action represents consumers’ first “ask” of Congress, namely, a demand for oversight and investigative congressional hearings regarding CDC’s and FDA’s bad faith actions in connection with e-cigarettes.  Many of CDC’s misrepresentations are set forth in CASAA’s testimony to the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.  If you want more information on how the FDA has misrepresented the science in connection with the proposed regulations, you should read the the errors and misstatements that are currently being cataloged in our AntiTHRLies blog.

We have created a campaign through CASAA's CQ Roll Call program, which will enable to you to directly contact your elected federal legislators (House and Senate).  Click here for the CQ Roll Call Campaign for this Third Call to Action.

You will be asked for your name, mailing address, email address, and telephone number.  All of this information is required by the program in order to find your elected representative and senator and to deliver the email to them.  (CASAA does not share its email list or membership list, so the personally identifying information you enter will only be available to CASAA through our database and to the recipients of your email.)

The first and last part of the email is not editable.  It ensures that a consistent message is sent to Congress by all CASAA members.  The middle portion of the email, however, is completely editable by you, and you should feel free to make whatever kinds of edits you wish.  We particularly encourage you to edit the email so as to add a brief paragraph (perhaps two to three sentences)  sharing your personal story.

If you plan to substantially edit the email, you may wish to copy the text into a word processing program and make the edits there, then copy and paste back into the CQ Roll Call email.  We have had two reports over the last several months that CQ Roll Call might "reset" when you keep the window open for a long time or when you open a separate browser window, causing you to lose any unique text you've added (and reverting back to the original).

Please take a moment to share this Call to Action with others.

I've tried for years to quit smoking (47 years to be exact), vaping allowed me to quit. I took action!! Will you?

Done! Wrote a very heartfelt first paragraph, which I hope you all do by reading the instructions and doing the same. "PLEASE INSERT YOUR PERSONAL STORY (just a few sentences) in the text of your email. We suggest you make it the first paragraph in the body of the email."

Thank you CASAA!

I quit with the help of e-cigs

Anonymous said...

Done, thanks for EVERYTHING that CASAA is doing in this matter!

Anonymous said...

Done! Made several small edits in an attempt to improve clarity and flow, but did not feel the need to elaborate much on my personal story except to mention that e-cigs were my key to quitting.

Every vaper needs to take action on this issue! It's incredibly easy and fast to do, and will help to determine the fate of the entire e-cigarette industry and of consumers like us.

So quick and easy and useless!! Emails are the leasteffective form of contact to legislators. Prewritten ones such as CASAA provides even more so. To really be heard make a phone call, or send a handwritten letter. That is what the legislators listen to!! One click and all your email is pushed away without consideration.

That was effortless! Thank you CASSA for taking the time to write-up the Action-plan and allow us to enter our own bit of personal experience.

I've been using my E-cig for over 2 years now and not once have I had bronchitis and my lung x-rays show my lungs almost clear now! I took action

Why are they trying to ban them?? Is it money motivated ?? Cause they tax cigarettes $7.00 a pack now I spend $7.00 a month on liquid.

Ecigs changed my life for the better. Every Doctor that I go to ask me if I smoke. I say no Ive been using ecigs for the past 3 years. their response is always "Good, you are still getting nicotine but not all the other harmful chemicals. its better for your health" Smoking and chewing are nasty habits I never thought I would quit.

I smoked for over 30 years & have used mods for 3 years. I want to be able to make my own juice without the interference of gov officials screwing this up. I'm tired of being mandated to be taxed to death for a habit that I love to do. I tried the fda approved, money wasted, alternatives that don't work like the gum, patch & pills with harmful side effects that cause heart failure. The fda & cdc are on the side with the offshore bankers that are ruining our country & rotting our health with deadly chemicals in tobacco, food, water & the air we breathe. Because vaping actually helps smokers quit, the fact that the ecig industry has exploded over the past few years, the cigarette companies will do all they can to steal & destroy what ecig companies have created for the good of all people. The cigarette companies have the money to buy off the fda & cdc with false accusations to the mainstream that liquid nicotine is more addictive in its extracted form for vaping vs smoking nicotine via cigarettes. Nothing like twisting the truth. Not to mention the batteries exploding, like how it was when cell phones were still in their infancy. Any excuse to demonize ecigs & ejuices for the cigarette companies greed. This fight shouldn't end here. Vaping is a freedom that I enjoy along with making my own ejuice & being able to tinker with my mods. It's my body & my right to be able to choose what I put into my body to be healthy instead of being chained to cigarettes & sickly. I've paid enough to the cigarette companies for my sins of using tobacco products. I do not want the same constraints with ecigs, mods & ejuice. Whenever something is considered healthy & actually working, the gov puppets & their elite masters want to destroy all that's good & turn it to poison. Because ecigs were not fda approved, I went with vaping. As with all drugs, these jokers will have you believe that antifreeze is the main ingredient in ejuice, has approved more drugs to kill people with various health problems, rather than re-educate doctors to treat the root cause of all of our health problems. If this bill does go through, I wouldn't trust vaping products controlled by this gov or the masters that control them. I have yet to see cigarette companies label the ingredients on their cigarette packaging. It only states that it may be dangerous for your health. Maybe is what allures people to smoke. The only facts out there that cigarettes do kill are the folks dying from smoking. I have yet to run across any small bit of info online showing anyone that has become sick & diseased from vaping. Not one from the act of vaping. Only irresponsible parents leaving out their ejuice for small children to injest. Organic vitamins & tinctures, excercise, & organic foods are constantly being jeopardized by the exact same organizations & businesses that demonize vaping & it's products. In the 1970's cigarettes were less than $1. Now states want to hike cigerettes to $7+ a pack. That's what they want to do to ejuice & ecigs with cartomizers & atomizers. Mods will soon follow. These are the same states with the same representatives that want your guns as well as to end the 2nd amendment. If you all want to be able to vape healthy then we must all join the fight to keep big gov & their puppets out of the vaping industry.

The Food and Drug Administration said Friday that the public comment period slated to end July 9 is being extended an additional 30 days to Aug. 8 after getting lots of input on how to regulate e-cigarettes.
The agency has received more than 33,700 comments on the proposal. By comparison, it received around 176,000 comments on potential menthol cigarette regulations during a 120-day comment period.

One of my state senators and one of my reps got back to me within 48 hours of CASAA sending my statement. The senator told me she would be monitoring the situation, and the rep told me hed get back to me, but has not done so yet.
Since the senator in question is Patty Murray of Washington State, I responded by thanking her and reinforcing how important this is to adult vapers and their families. Well see what happens by the time I vote. :) But I felt good that she responded.

I used Vapes to get off the FRIGGING NICOTINE GUM! Smoked 35 years, used the gum to stop smoking, then got addicted to the GUM for 4 years! The GUM (made in Denmark) ruined my teeth, causes terminal hiccups, sticks to everything, ruins clothes, and my money was going DENMARK (for some reason, its the only place in the world where they make Nicotine Polacrilex). Why? Who the heck knows. I called and actually spoke directly to my congressman (who is more of a Libertarian) and he thinks the only thing the FDA should do is make "recommendations" as to safe ingredients and contents and be a clearing house to known UNSAFE chemical contents - and THAT IS IT! I agree 100%. YOU KNOW the government will try to bleed us to death with more taxes. I told him we will go UNDERGROUND! Plus vote them all out. VAPES SAVES LIVES. "Moisture - NOT SMOKE." No doubt in my mind about that.

Wow I have been saying just about the same thing about the FDA and Big pharma in cahoots with the Tobacco industries corporate whores just wanting to make money off the profit of the sales of ecig juice and mods. Also I agree !00% that the Phillip Morris crooks are trying anything to stay in business since their profits are probably way down since the sale of our ecig juice and mods have helped so many finally quit the stinking nasty cigarette habit since nothing else has worked for us or we would of never been on this blog. NEVER TRUST THE FDA CDC OR GOVERNMANT NEVER. I SURE NEVER HAVE. BUNCH OF CROOKS GREEDY EVEIL DOESR LOL
