S.2234 would make multiple changes to Massachusetts law that would dramatically impact adult access to and use of vapor products such as:
- Ban vaping in the same places where smoking is currently prohibited.
- Prohibit sales of vapor products in pharmacies or any establishment that contains a pharmacy.
- Raise the minimum purchase age for ALL tobacco and vapor products from 18 to 21. (Although there is a grandfather clause in this bill which sets the cut-off date at January, 1st, 2017, CASAA is opposed to this policy because it erroneously equates low-risk products like e-cigarettes and snus with the harms of smoking.)
- Prohibit free samples (retail tobacco stores are exempted).
Those who have been following the assault on vapor products in Massachusetts may recognize these issues from several bills that were introduced in 2015. This year, they have been combined into one large bill and will likely move more quickly through the legislative process.
S.2234 has been scheduled for debate in the senate on:
Thursday, April 28th, 2016
Please take this opportunity to send a message and urge your senator to oppose this bill.

(Writing Tip #2) Although we've provided a prewritten email with compelling talking points, we would strongly encourage you to edit the email because personalized communications to legislators are far more persuasive than form letters. At a minimum, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PERSONAL STORY (just a few sentences) in the text of your email.
